These paintings were initially abstracted from landscape based observations of woodlands. Concentrating on depth and space within the picture plane, paint now replaces landscape as the subject. Controlled slow painting and fast random accident both appear in all the work, which often references the history and development of abstract art. Currently concerned with light and liquidity as the painted subject; or expressed differently by referencing landscape, as the space between and within the trees.
