Abstraction and Other Stimulii
Unusual colours, shapes and patterns interest me. My object being to turn my reactions into an abstract painting, mostly using oils but often with additions of pencil, charcoal or a texturing agent such as sand. My process usually involves taking a photograph then developing my ideas using sketches and perhaps collage or photoshop. Colour transparency is one of my tools and I build up my paintings using layers. A piece is finished when I feel I can achieve no more but as I look at it over time more lines or tones may be added.
